TECAR THERAPY

TECAR Therapy is an electrotherapy that uses high frequency electrical currents to promote healing, reduce pain and increase blood flow

How does it all work?

Relieve pain

Inhibits the transmission of pain messages by overwhelming nociceptors (pain receptors). The result? An immediate & lasting pain relief enabling improvement in symptoms and an increased tolerance to further treatments. Followed by an increased ability to complete rehabilitation exercises!

Restore movement

Increases temperature helping to release muscle tension and improve vascularization to make movement easier. Gain freedom and range of motion.

Boost metabolism

Stimulates intra and extracellular exchanges. The natural resistance of biological tissues increases, creating diathermy which is used by the vascular/lymphatic system.

Some Finer details…

Conductive (CET) used therapeutically with a treatment head actively by the therapist over the muscle ligament tendon joint or injury area. This would be used in a setting similar to massage with limited patient involvement. Due to the design of the treatment head that is used, the treatment would work superficially and local to the treatment head (It is an isolated treatment effect). So would work within a small radius of where the head is contacting the skin.

Resistive (RET) Travels from the treatment head to the return plate (end of the circuit) and treatment is focused in areas of most “resistance” the injury site or joint etc. This can be a more involved process and used to have the above desired effect within movement. For example this could be applied above and below the knee in a squat to allow for pain relief within the desired area but also to help to improve the function or range of motion of the joint due to the factors explained above.

Resistive Plus (RET +) Works more similarly to CET and targets more superficially and locally to the application area. This treatment head, thanks to 100 small RET plates (pictured below) creates significantly more heat than the other treatments. This has fantastic applications for ligaments and tendons as this increased temperature will help to upregulate Neocollagenesis (the production of new collagen) and boost the healing of these structures
